The Rogers Group - we know people!

Privacy policy

The Rogers Group understands and agrees that people care about their privacy. That is why we are committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of all personal information provided to us by all individuals.

Our privacy policy is based on our adherence to the standards and principles underlying the Privacy Amendment (Private Sector) Act 2000 and our commitment is to ensuring that individuals are comfortable when providing personal information to us.

Our goal is that, after reading our policy and discussing the process, individuals will understand the type of personal information we gather, how we gather the personal information and the purpose and uses for which we gather the personal information.

McQuaig On-Line

What does this policy cover?

In this case, our privacy policy covers our treatment of all personal information provided to us through The McQuaig System™ (be it via McQuaig On-Line®, by fax, by email, by computerised report, phone conversation, etc).

What is personal information?

"Personal information" as defined in the Act, is any information about an identifiable individual, but does not include the name, title or business address or telephone number of an employee of an organisation. In general terms, that might include name, age, marital status, political affiliation, etc.

What sort of information do we collect?

In reality, in the case of The McQuaig System™ the only personal data that we collect is the individual’s name, sex, scores, report on temperament and, possibly, email address. In the case of The McQuaig Word Survey®, we also refer to gender (strictly for pronoun purposes on the report). No other personal information is recorded or kept through the system.

Why do we collect the information that we obtain?

If an individual has been asked to fill in a Word Survey, we may have done so for a variety of reasons — perhaps the individual is applying for a job or is up for promotion or transfer, it may be part of a teambuilding exercise, or we may be asking many people in the individual’s position to complete it to establish norms for the job or the individual may have expressed an interest in career counselling or personal development, etc.

If an individual has been asked to fill in a Job Survey, again we may have done so for a variety of reasons — perhaps there’s an opening for this position or a new position has been created or the nature of the job is being changed — but, whatever our reason, we are interested in knowing the individual’s view on the "ideal" person for this job.

Information sharing and disclosure

Normally we would never send personal information about an individual that has been obtained through The McQuaig System™ to any other organisation. However, were we to do so, we would obtain the prior consent of the individual and the organisation before sending the information out to a third party.

What do we do with the information that we obtain?

Within our organisation, sharing of The McQuaig System™ personal information is on a need-to-know basis only. For example, if an individual has filled in a Word Survey and is a candidate for a job, his/her personal information may be shared between The Rogers Group and his/her potential future Manager(s).

Security

We affirm that we have organisational, physical and technological measures in place to protect against the loss, misuse or alteration of any McQuaig System™ personal information under our control and confirm that we review our security practices on a regular basis.

Accuracy

The individual will have complete control over his/her personal information and has the ability to see, correct or remove the personal information that s/he has provided to us. Any effects from removing data — such as non-consideration for employment — shall be advised and noted accordingly.

Retention of data

Our Privacy Protection Policy assures that the data from the Word Survey will be deleted after the purposes for which said surveys were completed have been satisfied and in compliance with all other applicable laws regarding privacy and employment document retention.

Opting-out and withdrawing consent

Subject to certain legal restrictions and reasonable notice, the individual may withdraw his/her consent at any time by contacting our Privacy Officer. In that case, all data and reports will be deleted from both our paper files and from any electronic database. Any effects from removing data — such as non-consideration for employment — shall be advised and noted accordingly.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to amend this privacy policy from time to time, in accordance with any applicable new Privacy Protection laws which may be enacted.

Consent

Where an individual fills in a survey, that individual will be consenting to the collection and use of their personal information as noted above. We will make sure that the individual has the information s/he needs to make an informed consent prior to filling in the form. If an individual has been asked to complete a survey on-line, by choosing to submit the form, the individual has given his/her consent to the processing and use of the information as advised by us and by The McQuaig Institute®.
